Stopping Lies and Bribes in Politics since '26
Imagine a world where every time a politician lied, a giant X appeared over their head and every time they secretly enriched themselves a flashing dollar sign illuminated.
Don't you think that would change everything for the better?
We obviously don't have that technology (yet), but we now have the next best thing: The American Millennium Political Party.
(And no, not "Millennial" like the generation, but "Millennium" as in a coming period of good governance).
The AMP Party is a free-to-join organization open to the general public and all federal politicians. However, we are not another typical "Third Party" that might split the vote or spoil an election. Instead, we are an Overlay. We certify Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who have proven and pledged themselves to be Honest and Financially Transparent.
Sound impossible? Keep an open mind and keep reading to see how you are going to help change the world.
First, notice we said "Honest," and not "Moral" or "Ethical." While it would be great if we could certify those traits, we know that we could never agree on them.
Those are policy differences based on worldview. However, despite what some politicians may argue, it is much easier to spot a lie or financial mischief.
Of course, there will always be voters who are okay with the lies and backend deals as long as it benefits them personally. To you we say: Be careful. Your own snake may end up biting you someday. But more importantly, the snake in charge may not always be your snake. It benefits everyone if all politicians are honest.
It could be argued that "greed is good" for a capitalist society. That may be true for business, but the only people arguing it is true for politics are greedy politicians. While a person's internal greed technically can't be measured, it is at least very hard to act on that greed when your finances are an open book and you are actually being held accountable for your actions.
While it may sound impossible, here is how it works. Once a politician agrees to the AMP Party's Binding Pledge of Honesty and Financial Transparency, they must go through four rigorous steps:
This allows you to vote for the policies you believe in without compromising on the character of the person you send to Washington.
Remember: We are not endorsing a candidate's policy, only that they are honest about that policy. You could be a conservative Republican and still certify that a progressive Democrat is an honest person. It does not mean you have to vote for them in the general election; it simply gives you the freedom to choose based on policy, not corruption.
We realize this sounds a little idealist, or maybe even impossible to implement perfectly. But ask yourself this: If we keep the status quo, how bad could things get? Versus if this actually worked, how good could things be?
